Happy New Year to you and yours! A day after the Rev. Martin Luther King holiday, I'm reminded that a dream comes with sacrifice and commitment. Nothing in life comes easy and as you get older sometimes dreams become harder to obtain. Giving up for me is not an option. Giving up for you shouldn't be either. Make adjustments and realign your goals to fit your current situation and believe that all things are possible. I had to put together a short reel highlighting some of my moments as a host over the past 8 years. This reel features R&B artist Amerie, Steele from the Brooklyn rap duo Smif & Wesson, Bad Boy Entertainment CEO and artist Diddy, female vocalist Dawn from Dirty Money and Danity Kane and G-Unit artist Lloyd Banks. The final portion of the reel is footage from me hosting the hit off-Broadway play 'Platanos & Collard Greens' from my Alma Mata New Jersey City University. It's 2013. Things have changed drastically in the world since I started this blog in 2008. The one thing that remains the same is my passion and love for what I do. If I have inspired one person to follow out their goals and be successful, I am pleased with that. I am not sure what the future holds but best believe I will continue to work hard and more efficient for the months ahead. Peace and blessings until the next post! - D.BAIL

LIFE AND TIMES OF D.BAIL (GRUSTLE TV)
"Hey friends, it's been some time since I last checked in. Let me start this post off by saying thank you to all of you who have supported me without hesitation since day one. My drive and will to keeping pushing is fueled by people who are on the same mission for success and I appreciate you all! Grustle TV Season 2 is in full swing along with a brand new website GRUSTLETV.COM My documentary "Life and Times of D.Bail" features a journey through my career in entertainment starting at 18 years of age up until this current moment. I have to give a shout to Barri Blakk of Blakk Magic Productions for use of his studio for the shoot. Remembering some of the great moments in my career, brought me back to the reason why I started what I've been doing for the past 12 years - helping others. I use my story to inspire those who need it and if I do nothing more than that, I will be happy for what God has given. Enjoy your weekend!" - D.BAIL

D.BAIL/CERTIFIED

"Back in 2006-2007, Bre and I had one of the hottest On Demand Shows out courtesy of Music Choice. Even when the show went on hiatus it was still the highest viewed show in Music Choice history. We had the illest artists out then and they are all still relevant now. They recently brought the show back and I went to Youtube to try to watch it. I didn't find it but I found a couple clips of the classic shows we had done before. It was a great season and a great experience for me I must say. Shout out to everyone who gave D.Bail his first nationwide exposure!" -D.BAIL

D.BAIL/HARLEM CELEBRITY READ-A-THON

"Every year since 2007 I've been granted the opportunity to give back to the community in a major way via the Harlem Celebrity Read-a-Thon that is held at the Hip Hop Cultural Center (124th & Frederick Douglass BLVD @ Magic Johnson Theatre) A former colleague of mine knew of my work with the youth and recommended me for the star studded list. So in June we all round up and read books to over 300 local elementary school kids right in Harlem NYC. I am always excited to combine my love for entertainment and the kids and just have a great time. I look forward to this every year, and the free food from sponsor Burger King doesn't hurt either." - D.BAIL

D.BAIL/PLATANOS & COLLARD GREENS
"If you haven't seen this play you should definitely check it out. It's the talk of the city in NY. 'Can love between Blacks & Dominicans Survive?' They have one of the most talented cast and crew I've ever seen. The storyline entertains and enlightens its audience as well.
In March of 2008, Aderia L. Johnson and Tower Yearbook at New Jersey City University booked Platanos & Collard Greens to perform at the Margaret Williams Theatre on campus. I hosted the show, BET's own DJ Nix in the Mix was doing his thing on the 1's & 2's along with the very talented emcee & singer La Femme Nikita. 107.5 WBLS Street Team came through to promote and show love to the nearly sold out audience. Sparxx Clothing Company CEO Lisa made sure La Femme Nikita and I were fresh in our original outfits to hold it down. " - D.BAIL

D.BAIL/PRE-COLLEGE PROGRAM

"One of the things that I do outside of the industry that I'm most proud of is my work with the young people. I am a Media Arts Instructor for a program called Upward Bound at NJCU. It's a weekend program that helps middle school/high school get prepared for college. The program gives classes on Saturday, extra tutoring, it pays for their SAT test and college applications. I work with the students who are trying to work in the entertainment field. I teach four aspects of Media including Film, Radio, TV & Audio. We shoot a documentary/movie once a semester that the students write and produce themselves. I encourage their creativity, and allow them to stand out and be leaders. The class also works on their self-esteem and helping them become better communicators in general. This is the best aspect of my career, the chance to give back. There are so many kids who don't have an outlet in the streets. I want them to feel as whatever they want to do in life as long as they have education and work hard they can achieve it." - D.BAIL

D.BAIL/SOHH.COM

"I began interning at SOHH.com in 2001 which was a crazy year. I was still in college making the proper adjustments to school full time, working part time and keeping a internship. I remember being at the old office downtown Jersey City on 9/11 watching the second plane hit those buildings. The next day I started working for Americorps National Service and went straight to NYC helping out. SOHH gave me the opportunity to humble myself, work hard, soak up information about the industry and not complain. SOHH.com is hands down one of the best websites out today and I seen them come up through dedication and sacrifice. It is definitely an inspiration for me and others starting out with their own company. The Co-Owner was someone I had looked up to for years and he taught me to do the little things well and when bigger opportunties came I would be able to handle it. A lot of people want to work in the business but don't like to put any work in. I interned a total of 5 years with various companies because you have to pay dues..." - D.BAIL

D.BAIL/MUSIC CHOICE

"I remember my friend calling me when the opportunity to audition finally came. I walked in the building with no headshots or managament. I drove them crazy weeks after trying to see if I got the spot. Working as a host with Music Choice was one of the best things that happened in my career. It's when I officially became a professional. The best experiences I had was going in to view and shoot the first episode, having my friends and family with me and realizing how blessed I was. The DEMMX award was cool too. We had the most talked about artists on our show and definetely set the standard with the On Demand service. The producers molded me into a better host and constantly challenged me to step it up. The staff treated me so good, I used to love the free Red Bull and snacks! I learned alot about the business end of TV and Music Choice opened up plenty doors for me, I am still greatful to have had that shot." - D.BAIL

"I just wanted to follow my dreams and I did. A few great people helped me along the way to make sure I had a chance. All the goals I set as a kid God made possible, now I have to give back to all of those who dream too."

One year later Doug auditioned for a VJ job at Music Choice and along with Bre, a top contestant from America's Next Top Model, was chosen to co-host "Certified", a show where fans vote on their favorite music artists in a head to head competition.
